No escribir [con Roland Barthes]
Paloma Vidal
IN SPANISH

Translated by Florencia Garramuño
Publisher: EME (Argentina)

No escribir [con Roland Barthes] is a performative essay, an essayistic autofiction, a performance-book in which the author uses her body to explore different ways of living with, and even being, Roland Barthes. For this reason, the cover depicts the execution of the graphic technique of transference, evoking the eponymous psychoanalytic procedure.

Furthermore, the concept of the mask is invoked through an insert that, in inviting the reader to explore one side, disguises the person holding the piece of paper with a photograph, inventing a spontaneous scene in which records and gestures are assembled.

Translucent red papers mark incidents and provide a temporary veil, generating a shifting chromatic accent that lends opacity to what lies beneath, without completely obscuring it.

Finally, the chapter covers reveal a sequence, the result of the exploratory gesture of flipping pages that contain the same image repeated, though never identical. The book is translated by Florencia Garramuño, revised by Guillermina Torres and Mario Cámara, designed by Celestina Alessio, and is the tenth in the MADRIGUERA collection, directed by Verónica Stedile Luna, with art direction by Leticia Barbeito. It is published by EME.
